Sony officially announced that the era of 3.5 inch floppy disc are now come to end. The 3.5 inch floppy disc for transferring files between personal computers are being used to market near about three decade. But the deadline is very near for this 1981’s storage device.
A report in the Manichean Daily newspaper says that Sony, which boasts 70 percent of the anemic market, reveled in Friday that it would end Japanese sales of the ancient storage medium in March 2011.
It was reported that the 5.25 inch floppy disc is going to take the position of the old. This 5.25 disk is already been a popular storage format. Actually the updated storage format like CDs, DVDs, Zip, and USB drives are taking place of floppy disc and it’ very easy to use. As a result the Japanese sales of floppies is declined. Sony already started to stop the sale in many overseas markets.
